Google launches campaign to fight Ebola and donates $10 million

Google has launched a public giving campaign to fight Ebola. It’s matching every dollar donated through its campaign site with two dollars, up to a total of $7.5 million. In addition, the company is donating $10 million straight away to support non-profits including the International Rescue Committee,Medecins Sans Frontieres and Save The Children.
Google CEO, Larry Page, made the announcement on the Official Google Blog. Page says: “These organizations are doing remarkable work in very difficult circumstances to help contain this outbreak and we hope our contribution will help them have an even greater impact.”
In addition to Google’s contribution, Page’s own family foundation is contributing $15 million to the efforts. It follows Mark Zuckberg’s $25 million donation to fight Ebola and Facebook’s campaign to encourage users to donate to the cause.
